Their day started off with rain and thunderstorms … and it all cleared up before their ceremony and reception. Rain did not keep Leah and Derek down! The celebrations continued and the mood stayed lifted. You never know what to expect with New Orleans weather, but it turned out perfect.
Leah and Derek started their day by getting ready at the Marriott Hotel on Canal Street. They were both surrounded by close friends as they prepared for their wedding day. Both rooms had amazing views of New Orleans (and the rain) and the mood was so laid back but with lots of laughter and silliness (especially as the guys were trying to get wearing the kilts right!)
We then headed to City Park for their first look. What an emotional moment I witnessed. To witness two people’s love with emotions running so high on their wedding day, it is just incredible. They had tears, laughter, smiles and giddiness when they saw each other. Pure love. Their ceremony with close friends and family, who traveled from many parts of the country and London, was held in the City Park Conservatory with amazing light flooding in through the windows. The rain had stopped and the light was just amazing. A heartfelt, loving ceremony was then followed by a second line around the Lath House gardens and lily pond. This New York couple showed their guests a true taste of New Orleans as they hired a cajun band for the second line and reception. They got to learn a few cajun dances and traditions, while enjoying the beautiful setting at City Park.
Leah and Derek danced all night long and, you can tell by their expressions and laughter, that they truly enjoy each other and their friends. They literally were smiles all night long and they look at each other in the cutest, playful way which makes a photographer’s job pretty darn easy! They were willing to do anything for some great playful photos too (like running in wet grass for me). They were too much fun and I love seeing a couple so happy and celebrating. They found each other two years ago, fell in love and now an amazing marriage is ahead of them.
Leah and Derek, congratulations on your marriage. You truly are happy and in love and I can tell you enjoy every second you are together and cherish each other. That kind of love is so cool to see. You both were tons of fun to work with! Congratulations!
